I bought a down jacket of a famous brand from an American mail order site but the product I received was quite inferior and seemed to be a copy. Although it was an American brand the shipping origin was China. The manufacturing is supposed to be in the U.S. as well so it is obviously not right that the product is shipped from China. I emailed the company several times to inquire about the product but received no response at all so I made an international phone call directly to the online retailer's management. The website said that personal imports from overseas were welcome and it also stated that Japanese-speaking staff were on hand so I called them thinking that even though my English was not good enough I should be able to handle it. However the staff member who answered the phone spoke only English and said only that he did not understand Japanese. I had no choice but to try to explain in English using translation software but either they didn't understand me or they were deliberately pretending not to understand me and I couldn't get through to them at all. I was concerned about the phone bill if I spent a long time talking on the international call so I told them in a strong tone of English to have someone who understood Japanese call me back anyway but in the end I never received another call.
